When I recently returned to Chicago, I thought the move down from four tracks to three on the Red Line (w/ brown and purple) had already happened. It took 45 minutes to go from Granville to Belmont! Then I found at shortly thereafter that the downscaling hadn't even happened yet. It will be Hell, I'm going to go ahead and GUARANTEE it.

The buses are a little faster, but crowded, stinky, the seats are starting to hurt my ass, and they're always late.

You know, I hated the DC metro when I was living there--ugly orange/beige scheme, stops like when an elavator slams up too hard, and most of it in concrete tunnels...... at least in Chicago you could have a view, feel like you're in your city--but now, those much quicker and more reliable commutes are starting to look good.
