So... I've found myself in the following scenario often:
Someone: mentions "emo" bands, the fashion associated with it or its effect on pop music.
I almost always respond: "That b.s. is not emo. It is poppy punk."
Someone: Why do you think that?
Me: Because it has nothing to do with the original movement. It doesn't sound anything like it. It falls much more in line with the history of pop-punk (i.e. Green Day, Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, Warped Tour bands, New Found Glory, Ataris etc....are all part of the same sound and history.)
Them: Well what is real emo then? What are some of the bands?
So............ I've decided to post some "real emo" bands which I acknowledge is a completely retarded thing to do, considering the word wasn't even attached to some of them before they broke up, and I fully realize the psuedo-hipster implications.
So you see, I fully know I'm not cool before you have a chance to tell me...
