More proof that watching our Federal Government can be the most frustrating thing on Earth...
In two New York Times articles today, the extreme stupidity and lack of forsight in Washington is evident.
From Carl Hulse's article, "The Senate on Thursday sent President Bush a $124 billion war spending measure that he has promised to veto, forcing Democrats to begin confronting the difficult question of what to do after the president acts.
"Lawmakers and senior Democratic aides in the House and Senate acknowledge that there is no consensus among the party’s leadership on how to respond legislatively to the veto..."
So the Democratic party is ONLY JUST NOW thinking about what to do next. The president has been vowing to veto any legislation that even looks like this since the Democrats took over Congress!!!
Do I need to explain why this is absolutely asinine.
From Michael Luo's article, "The Justice Department proposed legislation on Thursday that would give the attorney general discretion to bar terrorism suspects from buying firearms, seeking to close a gap in federal gun laws.
"The measure...would give the attorney general authority to deny a firearm purchase if the buyer was found 'to be or have been engaged in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism.'"
You mean to tell me that we don't have a law for this already? Especially after the fear mongering following September 11th?
Who exactly is running this country and how did they get there?
